There is no new assignment for today. However you can complete the assignments already made.

Memrise and Socrative
In two self-study periods today you should
- Use the Socrative STUDENT app to complete the exercise in Room 843039
This exercise will run from 4th to 5th period today
It is a review of Unit 2 vocabulary Part 2
- Again today, increase your GAEN 201 score by at least 1000 points in Memrise
Your target by the end of the week is 5000 points in Memrise for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
These items will be checked at the end of the day and your marks will be recorded in your teacher's gradebook.
Each of these assignments will take only 10-15 minutes of your time in any given period and you may use the remaining time for anything else you feel you need to study, while your classmates are taking their speaking tests.
You are responsible during self-study time for staying focused on your studies and managing your tasks as adult officer cadets. Your teachers are responsible for providing you with direction and materials for study. We are also responsible for keeping track in our gradebooks of who completes the materials assigned.

Period 5 with Vance - Writing a letter of complaint in Google Docs
On your mid-term exam you will have to write a letter of complaint. Your teacher Ellen has taught the concept and modeled a letter for you. In this lesson, you should use your model and write an original letter of complaint on a slightly different topic.
You may write your letter on paper or in Google Docs. If you write on paper your teacher will read it into Google Docs after you turn it in.
In order to learn from this, you will need to revise your work in Google Docs after your teacher Vance gives you feedback on it.
You can choose your topic
The first topic is the one in BlackBoard
You are a steward (cabin crew) on British Airways. You have started to feel very tired and unhappy because of the long work hours, lack of personnel on board and the quality of the hotels you have to stay at.
Alternative topic, you are a student
You are a student taking English classes from HCT. You have started to feel very tired and unhappy because of the long study hours, Sunday exams, lack of exam results, and the amount of material you are having to learn at too fast a pace.
Here is your task:
Write a letter to your superiors. In your letter
- Introduce yourself
- Explain the problems you have
- Suggest what the airline or college should do
Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter with ‘Dear Sir / Madam,’
You should spend 30 minutes on this task.
