For the last two days, Monday and Tuesday, you have had self study assignments to complete. You have each been given handouts that direct you to come here for links to your assignments.
There is no new assignment for today. However you can complete the assignments already made.
All scheduled GAEN201 periods today will be again used for Speaking Tests
Your teachers are providing you with materials to help you prepare from your GAEN 201 final exam on Sunday.
Some of these materials (Socrative and Memrise) are being tracked on a daily basis.
The handouts we are giving you will be collected at some point. Please keep them ready to hand in.

Each of these assignments will take only 10-15 minutes of your time in any given period and you may use the remaining time for anything else you feel you need to study, while your classmates are taking their speaking tests.
You are responsible during self-study time for staying focused on your studies and managing your tasks as adult officer cadets. Your teachers are responsible for providing you with direction and materials for study. We are also responsible for keeping track in our gradebooks of who completes the materials assigned.

Self-study target 8000 points by the end of the week (or latest, before the Midterm on Sunday Oct 11)
On your mid-term exam you will have to write a letter of complaint. Your teacher Ellen has taught the concept and modeled a letter for you. In this lesson, you should use your model and write an original letter of complaint on a slightly different topic.
You may write your letter on paper or in Google Docs. If you write on paper your teacher will read it into Google Docs after you turn it in.
In order to learn from this, you will need to revise your work in Google Docs after your teacher Vance gives you feedback on it.
You can choose your topic
You are a steward (cabin crew) on British Airways. You have started to feel very tired and unhappy because of the long work hours, lack of personnel on board and the quality of the hotels you have to stay at.
You are a student taking English classes from HCT. You have started to feel very tired and unhappy because of the long study hours, Sunday exams, lack of exam results, and the amount of material you are having to learn at too fast a pace.
Write a letter to your superiors. In your letter
Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter with ‘Dear Sir / Madam,’
You should spend 30 minutes on this task.
Title your document with your HCT ID, name, section, and complaint letter
