Week 8
Thursday Feb 23
These students did the alternative assignment outlined below
Wednesday Feb 22
Tuesday, these students were at IDEX
I gave grades out to the students showing the majority failed the writing portion.
I tried to show the students how they could improve that by using what they have learned about relative pronouns to include at least one complex sentence in their compositions.
Gave out this worksheet
IDEX recollections.docx
I showed them public websites and newspaper reports of the show they had visited.
Some students said that what they had seen was secret and they an alternative assignment.
So I produced an altered version for later classes (not all my students had visited IDEX)
So for later classes I collected these documents
- HCT Writing Band Descriptors 2 to 5
- Exercises students had been given in for Unit 3 to practice relative pronouns
- An altered assignment, learning recollections.docx including sample paragraphs, one produced by a student
And I produced a video to explain in 10 min what I was trying to do
relativepronouns_iPad_part1.mp4
relativepronouns_iPad_part2.mp4
I had to upload the video in two parts before the upload would work
