Minecraft Challenge 1 - The Tutorial World
Task:
- Create a NEW tutorial world so you'll start at the beginning
- Follow the instructions, and complete the tutorial
- Cross the deep ravine at the end of the tutorial by creating steps or tunneling upwards
Goal: Arrive at the Tutorial World on the other side
Writing outcome
- Write a 200-word report on what you learned from doing the tutorial and how you crossed the ravine
- Make a screen shot of your avatar on the other side and include it in your report
Minecraft Challenge 2 - Explore the Tutorial World on the other side of the ravine
Task: By yourself or with others in class, explore the tutorial world on the other side of the ravine
Goal: Follow your own path to find out what is available on the other side.

Two soldiers have just parachuted into a distant land somewhere deep within a LAN server in the ILC.
Their task is build shelter to protect themselves from enemies that will certainly attack at night.
They'd better hurry, it's getting dark
Task: Your orders are to
- enter Minecraft in survival mode, alone or as part of a team
- acquire resources, make tools, build shelter
Goal: Survive your first night
Writing outcome
- Write a 200-word report describing what you did to survive the night
- Make at least one screen shot and include it in your report.

Please watch this one-minute news report and answer the questions to help you understand how two planes full of passengers almost collided in midair, which would have killed all on board.
